1898 - 1978

First (and only) female prime minister of Israel. Born in the Ukraine, Meir moved to the United States where she became a member of the Labor Zionist Movement, and eventually made aliyah. She went on to serve in the Knesset and later became the first female prime minister in the Middle East. She left office after she was accused of lack of preparation before the Yom Kippur War.
