Menachem Begin

1913 - 1992
Sixth Israeli prime minister. In Poland he was the head of the Betar movement. In Israel he was appointed commander of Etzel. He founded the Herut movement which later merged with other parties to become the Likud party. He was elected as Israel's prime minister in 1977. Premiership known for the Camp David Accords with President Anwar Sadat of Egypt, and that same year they were both awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
