Avishai has worked with the Mechina Olamit in several different positions over the past few years, in both an educational and programming capacity. He was born in Boca Raton, Florida, made Aliyah at the age of seven, and grew up in Hashmonaim, near Modiin. After a year of National Service working with youth-at-risk in the city of Ofakim, and a year at Yeshivat Machon Meir, Avishai served as an IDF captain for eight years, and has since worked in high-tech and Jewish education.
He lives in the yishuv of Nokdim with his wife Reut, (who worked at the Mechina over the past three years as rakezet and then menahelet), and their two young children. Avishai is currently drafted in the IDF, and therefore the acting Rosh Mechina is Rav Arik Speaker.
